Are they drawn on a UK or foreign bank ?

If its foreign then you need to refer them to the foreign currency services department of your bank.

Why do you want to open an euro account? It doesn't make sense doing that. Even if you open a Euro's account, when you try to withdraw, you will end up paying the processing fee. So better put it in your direct account.
